COE 2016 Annual Conference planning.
Hi Fellow NC Programmers
Many of you probably got an email from COE looking for speakers for the 2016 conference. I am hoping that some of you can step up and do a presentation.
My suggested Goals for next year:
- Have a full grid of NC sessions.
- Increase the time slot for Dassault to present the NC Functions
- Increase the time slot for Dassault to present the Requirements… with more time for open dialog.
- Have a few MO specific requirements sessions. I will propose one on MAFC, as I submitted over 20 requirements yet to be implemented.
- Do more Deep dives rather than overviews. Such as concentric roughing, PPTables, and Building Processes.
Have a full grid of NC sessions.
Most users we asked would like to have a full grid, meaning something for every time slot for NC programming. A few users like to have open slots to do other things, but most want the choice, and many bring more than one employee to cover session conflicts.
Increase the time slot for Dassault to present the Functions, which is what is new in the latest version.
At the 2015 conference….even with a double session….. Half the PowerPoint material was skipped. There is just too much to show and not enough time. I propose we break it up into several sessions. One could be the main NC programming functions, another for robotics, Drill and Fill advances, and another for exclusive V6 Advances.
Increase the time slot for Dassault to present the Requirements.
Requirements are where we do the Top Ten. And the survey. This year (2015) we did something different, where the chairman and Dassault R&D Representative Jean-Marc Cauzac took turns on each requirement. So I would explain the requirement, then Jean-Marc would give the official Dassault response. That is all good. But Next year I propose a full session for open dialog on the other requirements, the small but important ones, and the big ticket one not on the Top Ten list.
Have a few MO specific requirements sessions.
Some Topics really need a deep dive on requirements. I have done 5 MFG month web sessions and covered many. I urge you to review one video a week or so, and in 2 months you will see all requirements videos, and you can vote on what your priorities are. Also help refine the specifications.
The Annual Conference provides a rare opportunity to collaborate
To have users and Dassault R&D in one place is a rare opportunity to collaborate and reach a consensus. Also….. a great way to convey your frustration, and show the importance of getting things fixed.
I will propose doing a session on MAFC, as I submitted over 20 MAFC requirements yet to be implemented. We at COE are looking for 2 or 3 members to step up and lead a session.
Do more Deep dives rather than overviews.
What would you like to see a deep dive in. Topics such as concentric roughing, PPTables, and Building Processes? DML? Let us know
COE is all of us. COE is You.
