Curve Shape between CATIA and Excel

Hello

I have some points coordinates in Excel and when i plot the curve the ,i have smooth curve between one point to another

When i use the same coordinates in CATIA V5 to create the spline curve , I do not have the curve shape similar to Excel.

Is there any way to improve this shape of the curve using CATIAV5.

Thanks and Best Regards

Without seeing some points and knowing what functions you used to make the graph in excel I don't think it is possible to say why the results are different.

Hello Cliff

I have attached the excel file , I just the plot the curve using scatter diagram with smooth curve in Excel.

In CATIA, i used the same coordinates to create the curve connecting points with Spline function.

I do not know , is there any other possibilities in CATIA to create smooth spline curve as similar like in Excel.

Attached the image from CATIA and Excel.

Thanks

I just made a spline from the points and it looks very much like your excel plot (see image). Check the order of your points in Catia.

Thank You Cliff.

I think you have used the Polyline to connect all the points coming from Excel. Correct me if am wrong.

Or

Do you change some order of the points.?

Thanks

No, it is a Spline.

I added a column of zeros for Z, then used an application we have in which I select a range including 3 columns in Excel and it imports the points and makes a spline from them.

The view shown is almost from the side as there is very little "height" to the resulting curve.

Hello Cliff

When i create the spline with using the points in CATIAV5, I have got a irregular curve shape.See the attached image

I do not understand how you get the smooth shape.

Could you provide the reordered points in excel in order to get the smooth shape. Sorry

Thanks & Regards

Where are your Y values coming from?

The first point in the Excel file is (-348,2.26),  but you show (-348,112.8) ?

The Y value is multiplied by scale factor of 50.

The curve shape in Excel does not change .

I scaled the points in Y like you did and got the same result as you.

Looks like you have enough "noise" in your points to cause the problems you are seeing.

So I "smoothed" the un-scaled curve, and applied an affinity transform to scale it in Y only and got a much better result.

See attached image.

Hello Cliff

Is it possible to share the CATPart ,you have got the smooth shape.I have tried it and i do not have the good shape

Thanks

Sorry I didn't keep the part.

All I did was make a spline through the points, then smooth the spline with a tolerance of 0.01 with the "Simplify Topology" option checked, and then  scale in Y (Affinity) the result of the smooth.

I do not know whats the mistake am doing here. I do the same as you did.

But getting strange curve. Attached the image and catpart(R24 Versioned CATPart). Please advice me where am doing the mistake.

Thanks

You are working on points which have already been scaled in Y. Make your points without scaling in Y. Then make a spline from those, smooth, then apply affinity.
