How do I change the VIEWED colors of on-screen elements, to not conflict with dark backgrounds?

How do I change the VIEWED colors of on-screen elements, to not conflict with dark backgrounds?

With all of the new options for display, I am having a hard time finding what I used to use.  Basically, I want a black background.  But when I change it to black, I can't see on-screen elements.  I will not change the element color to white, as I don't want that to cause a problem when models are passed down.

What setting do I need to initialize, so that wireframe elements appear in light contrast to black backgrounds?  I seem to remember this happening automatically in V5. (I could be wrong)

Thank you.

Preferences, Legacy Preferences, Infrastructure, 3D Shape Infrastructure, Graphic Properties tab.  Change the Theme from 3DExperience Black to 3Dexperience White.  This should make all of your wireframe geometry white instead of black.

Legacy preferences?  I see no such thing...

2017x, by the way.

Select the arrow next to Preferences, it will expand the menu to show Legacy Preferences.

There is no arrow next to "Preferences"

I was able to find Graphic Properties under Intrastructure -> 3D Shape Infrastructure.  However, changing the option you suggested had no effect.

Does one need to overload the ambience setting, or just switch it to "basic"?

Yeah, it looks like that will only affect newly created parts after the option is changed.  Doesn't appear to work like it should.

Does that option carry with the part?  In other words, will my preferences affect downstream users?

Based on how it's behaving, I think that it will carry with the part, which probably isn't what you want.  I'm not sure how you change just your personal settings without affecting the actual part.  I really thought that was the intention of those settings.  Disappointing that it is not.
