Transition from V5 to the 3DExperience

Transition from V5 to the 3DExperience

Does anyone know of a document for the oldies in the community (former V2/V3/V4 and V5 users) like myself who are making the transition to the 3DExperience, that would show for instance how to create the equivalent of an ALLCATPart ? This was the first thing I thought of, but there are lots of tools and functions that I used to use on a regular basis in V5 that undoubtedly exist and have been renamed.
(CATDUAV5..../File-New From.... etc etc)

Wouldn't that be nice. I am not aware of any good educational materials for CAD designers making the transition from v5 to 3dexperience, certainly not anything free. I am sure there are a variety of companies out there that offer general 3dExperience training although if you already have v5 experience the classes will feel slow. Fortunately, in my experience, if you have experience with v5 and (hopefully) Enovia, the transition isn't too bad. But, like you have discovered, Dassault seems to think it is a good idea to change the names of commands that have been used for years(decades?). They also like to change the names of commands in 3dexperience from year to year to keep you on your toes, so get used to it.

As for an AllCATPart, the command is now called "Product filtering and merging", it is found in the Engineering IP Control App.

CATDUA is now called "Check Representations", it can still be found through the batch utility. I haven't found an equivalent to the "desk" in 3dexperience so you won't be able to run it that way if that is what you are used to.

New from is fairly straight forward, you can use the duplicate or new evolution/branch commands. These are accessible in the Collaborative Lifecycle app. You can also access these commands when performing a "Save with Options". This is if you want to do a new from on an object in your database. If you are importing data(V5 or 3dxml), there are other options to select so the items are added as new in the database. The "UUID" in 3dexperience is exposed as the "name" property of the object, so it is easier to see if you have created an object with a new UID.

Let me know if there are more v5 to 3dx translations you are interested in.
