I know this is a very-very old topic, but important is the sunbject of it, Isn't it?
As I also know, usualy the cloud of points is created outside of Catia, but it is somehow possible to get and export a Cloud of Points based on the Catia (.CATPart) geometrie?
I run through the possible file extentions we can save as the .Catparts and I found the 3Dmap altough there are not so many informations about them in the internet.
Is it somehow possible to read the coordinate of the Voxels from a 3dmap file?
Any help is much appreciated
An STL file might be considered as a Cloud of Point, based on the licence you have you could export as STL. If you want to use other Cloud file format I suggest you check what the STL (catia V5) licence can offer, for more option check the DSE licence. This will also give you tools to mesh you part for a controlled mesh/points creation no the geometry. Your VAR should be able to guide you on the subject.
You should look also the software you will import the could into, this will help you find compatible options.
Not sure 3dmap are human readable aka ascii file? Did you try to open it with notepad+ ? If you can't 'read' anything, then it's probably a binary format file, and unless you know the code to translate it, you won't be able to do much with it.
