COE's New Data Management and Collaboration Division

COE's Information Management Division will now be called the Data Management and Collaboration Division. Lewis Breeding, chair of the division, recently discussed the name change and how the division will help serve the community going forward.
The newly-named Data Management and Collaboration Division would like to drive people to understand the importance of the data they have and not look at the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform as a simple lifecycle management solution. That could involve helping consumers find the exact, up-to-date information at the right time, or the ability to run big data analytics on the platform and use that information to make better and more informed business decisions.

The Data Management and Collaboration Division is based on most of the ENOVIA brand tools, meaning the productivity grows as more customers adopt the Roles and use the currently available applications to replace the sometimes multiple silos their data is stored in. “You can call it one-stop shopping where the relevant data is real-time and always up to date with traceability and governance to ensure rules and standards are followed,” Breeding says. The 3DEXPERIENCE Platform is a business platform and, as the sole source of trust with data continuity, will improve the time to market for a product and reduce the number of man hours required to pull information together.

Looking forward to COExperience in 2020, the Data Management and Collaboration Division aims to broaden the event’s content to include as many of the different Roles and applications that are trending in the respective markets and industries today.

Dassault Systèmes Solutions users should take the “collaboration” portion of the division seriously, whether that is collaboration within an organization or with their suppliers. Breeding says that as data moves and gets updated, it is important that the people that need it can get to it easily and be notified when new data is available.
