Peugeot Citroen Integrates 3D Simulation with Dassault
Supply Chain Review (02/21/12)

Carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroën deploys 3D simulation software DELMIA as part of its investment in technological innovation. The software, from simulation software vendor Dassault Systèmes, allows manufacturers to virtually define, plan, create, monitor and control all production processes in order to achieve maximum production efficiency, lower costs, improve quality and reduce time to market. DELMIA supports assembly simulation, painting, factory layout, stamping and powertrain in all major departments of PSA Peugeot Citroën. The software will be used, among other projects at PSA Peugeot Citroën, to develop a new DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission). Dassault Systèmes Transportation and Mobility Vice President Olivier Sappin says, "DELMIA contributes to this by ensuring high-level planning reliability along with optimized implementation times and costs.” As a result, the group is able to master powertrain development times, reduce development and operating costs, and optimize resources and investments while improving quality. "DELMIA has enabled us to standardize what were, in the past, heterogeneous work methods throughout the group," says PSA Peugeot Citroën Powertrain Digital Engineering and Metrology Area Manager Emmanuel Chamouton.
