President's Blog

Hello once again. Did any of you notice that the last issue and this issue of NewsNet was sent out 'by me'? I hope it did not end up in your spam folder; this personalization of our communications was proposed by COE HQ (since they do this with another association with which they work), and I think it makes NewsNet even better. Let me know if you like this change to a more 'personal' distribution.

By now, I presume all of you have submitted your abstracts for the COE Annual Experience in Charleston; I know that Mike Clare and the conference planning team have been reviewing all of the submissions and getting them to the division managers to add to each division's track. If you did not get it in, rumor has it that CATIA topics, especially CATIA V6, may still be acceptable in some divisions that do not yet have enough "backup presentations" to be certain we have no holes in the grid. We are now only 5 months from the conference, so be sure your budget includes your registration, hotel, and airfare so you do not miss out during early registration.

I just finished attending the Dassault Systemes 3D Experience Customer Forum (quite a title) last week, and was able to speak with a couple technology partners in the "3D Experience Playground" that are interested in coming to our conference in April. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but definitely expect some new technology to be showcased in April, that I hope you find as interesting as I do. If you or your company have a new product or service provider that works with any of the Dassault Systemes solutions, including the newer BIOVIA, GEOVIA or Exalead brands, be sure to let COE HQ know about them, so we can be get these prospective exhibitors to attend the conference as well.

DS has continued to expand their portfolio through both development and acquisition, and several new acquisitions are so interesting, we are working with DS to have them presented during an upcoming Ask The Experts webinar. While the focus (to me) appears to have been on expanding the DELMIA brand over the last 12 months, there are several acquisitions that directly impact CATIA, ENOVIA, and SIMULIA as well. Since a majority of our membership uses more than one DS brand, I hope these reviews of the new Dassault Systemes solutions helps you, our members, utilize these functions as they are incorporated into the various brands.

Finally - if you are not the voting representative for your company, please remind them that the renewal emails are imminent, and to not miss out on renewing; at the same time, remind them if they will NOT attend the Conference to give you or someone else from your company that will be attending the conference their 'proxy' to attend and vote at the Annual Business Meeting in Charleston.
