Prep Work+

  1. Write your paper/presentation first – You will be able to give a much more accurate summary
  2. Review and understand any requirements for writing your abstract (length, style requirements, audience)
  3. Consider the audience – Will other academics in your field read this abstract? Should it be accessible to a new reader or somebody from another field?
  4. Determine the type of abstract you must write- informative or descriptive?
    • Descriptive abstracts explain the purpose, goal, and methods of your research but leave out the results section. These are typically only 100-200 words.
    • Informative abstracts are like a condensed version of your paper, giving an overview of everything in your research including the results. These are much longer than descriptive abstracts, and can be anywhere from a single paragraph to a whole page long.

Writing the Abstract+

  1. Explain the problem at hand and your methods - What problem is your research trying to better understand or solve and can you describe the evidence to support the claim
  2. Describe the results – General findings, what answer did you reach from the research
  3. Give the Conclusion
  4. Provide helpful information and write the abstract separate from the paper
  5. Avoid being to specific - You should not need to explain or define any terms in your abstract, a reference is all that is needed. Avoid being too explicit in your summary and stick to a very broad overview of your work
  6. Edit your work and get feedback from someone

1. Model Based Systems Engineering

Model Based Systems Engineering on the 3D Experience platform has  the potential for providing significant insights into what our real product requirements are.  It provides a framework for linking those requirements to product functions and helps us organize these elements into Functional, Logical & Physical architectures for trade study analysis.

  • Addressing needs to manage increased complexities with system &  system of systems definition
  • Addressing requirement verification challenges through product qualification/certification

2. Virtual Twin

Virtual Twin or Digital Twin have many different & similar definitions when it comes to being implemented within our industries.  Suffice it to say, we want to leverage how we define, analyze, test, fabricate, support & improve our products utilizing data connections between the various artifacts.  The 3D Experience Platform plays a significant role with connecting these artifacts together.

5. Digital Asset Management

A company's equity is not just in financial equity & capital assets.  The information we have and create are of vital importance to the ability to sustain and flourish.  We need to explore how the 3D Experience can retain our digital assets and leverage them for creating new and novel products and services.

Analyze & Simulate+

Breakout sessions included in the Analyze & Simulate track are focused on the processes, methods and tools for modeling and synthesis of engineering systems and for engineering analysis and simulation of products. Typical sessions describe end-user scenarios of how realistic simulations are developed to depict a product's physical behavior including static, dynamic, mechanical and thermal operating-load environments, as well as the performance of ergonomic studies for a product's assembly, operation and maintenance. Techniques that are covered include finite element analysis of structural components, fluid dynamics, kinematics, multi-body dynamics, multi-disciplined optimization of a product's shape, performance, cost and knowledge-based engineering as related to the functional performance of a product. Best practices are shared for virtually simulating and optimizing products by accommodating multiple concurrent, and generally conflicting, operational requirements of a product.

This new expanded community of practice addresses the installation, configuration, distribution and administration of Dassault Systèmes Applications.  This division also covers the development of applications and tools for the automation tasks within these applications.  This includes the complementary tools and heterogeneous environments that are the reality of our IT infrastructure and program development within our companies.  You will learn techniques for deploying and maintaining Dassault Systèmes Applications: learn about the latest in both client & server hardware and also address the installation, configuration, and distribution of environments.  Product licensing, licensing tools, and license server configuration are also topics of interest to this COE community.  You will also have the opportunity to learn about advances in Knowledge Based Engineering to capture and reuse corporate design, analysis and manufacturing expertise.

Leaders' Summit+

The Leaders' Summit at COExperience consists of two days of special programming for the business leaders of today and tomorrow. Occurring on Monday and Tuesday during COExperience, the Leaders' Summit is designed specifically for the transformation leaders and decision-makers of COE member organizations, and will focus on facilitating conversations about how technological, cultural and industry-based disruptions are changing the way products are designed and delivered. .

COE University Training Session Types+

COE University Training Sessions at the COExperience are hands-on sessions that take place in a computer lab. Attendees of these sessions should learn a new process, procedure or method by executing along with the presenter. These sessions should be interactive with the audience.

Process Session (Customer or Partner-delivered)+

Process Sessions at the COExperience are dedicated to sharing user experience through company projects.  These sessions include approach, implementation, results, and lessons learned. The primary objective of these sessions is to provide the business critical information to make your awareness and broaden your perspective for effective implementation of DS Products.

Product Session (Dassault-delivered)+

Product Sessions at the COExperience are dedicated to specific DS Products -Functions and Requirements.  The primary objective of these sessions is to provide information on the latest product enhancements and insight into the future product direction. Additionally, discussion between the DS Product Manager and Users on production requirements will be part of these sessions.

Tech Talk+

Similar to the popular TED conferences, during a Tech Talk, a presenter delivers a presentation on an idea or solution for up to 15 minutes. Three Tech Talks may be grouped together by the committee to create a full 50-minute session.
