ANSWER:
There is no end of life plan for CATIA V5.
There is currently no end date for customer support on CATIA V5. DS is NOT discontinuing V5 anytime soon. We have a massive ecosystem of partners and customers based on V5 and you won’t all jump to V6 immediately. Our customers need DS to continue development of V5, and that’s what we’re doing. We will continue supporting customers in production for/from the V5 platform.
There is no end of life plan for CATIA V4.
DS did announce in the last quarter of 2009 the report of CATIA Version 4 Release 2.5 (425) end of support date from YE 2009 to YE 2011.
In order to help customers manage their upgrade of CATIA V4 Release 2.5, DS decided to defer the end of support of this release until December 31st, 2011.
Thanks to this extra time support period, customers will still get support for their programs currently running on this release, having the opportunity to manage the obsolescence of their own technical environment (Unix Operating Systems, databases, software, middleware and hardware) and focusing on their upgrade strategy up to DS innovative solutions.
CATIA Version 4 Release 2.5 (425) is supported beyond December 31st, 2009 until December 31st, 2011.
No additional charges are needed to benefit from support during this period: customers just have to be current with the standard support charges.
Beyond December 31st, 2009 until December 31st, 2011, all customers’ current with their support charges will benefit from support of CATIA V4R2.5 within the following scope:
- The product covered is CATIA V4R2.5 only, except 4DNAV and CDP.
- Defect support will be strictly limited to blocking production defects, escalated via the Critsit process.
