For Civil Design, does DS not evaluate and provide competitive software (Bentleys, Civil3D, ...) functionality? Doing so CATIA would be considered as a more competitive civil software.

ANSWER: As a sub-segment of the Construction industry, which is one of the 11 industries that DS serves, Civil Design has been a focus starting in V5 and is definitely part of the strategic roadmap in V6.

In V5, DS has started investing in Civil Design and has successfully worked with a number of customers, for plant implantation for instance. Modeling and calculation tools for Civil Engineering have been available in CATIA since V5R19.

As for V6, above and beyond the aforementioned projects, strategic announcements will be made in the coming months.
