Scroll bars and compass ridiculously big...

Scroll bars and compass ridiculously big...
This is extremely irritating...  the scroll bars and compass are way too big.  I've screwed around with all of the visualization settings in Catia and everything else within windows is the normal size.  WTF is going on?  How do I get this stupid thing down to a normal size?

Thanks

Try changing your monitor resolution.

just as a test... rename your CATSettings folder (add a character to the end or similar) then restart CATIA. If OK then there's a problem within your settings or the settings themselves have become corrupt...otherwise it may be a GPU problem... I haven't seen this one before.

My screen rez is 1080p. I had the exact same version running on my laptop at the exact same rez and it didn't look like that.

Ok, I'll try messing with the settings folder.

Thanks

renaming the settings folder didn't work.

Anyone? I did a complete uninstall and reinstall. I even ran a registry cleaner. This is really irritating.

Try a different video card driver

Today my video drivers screwed up... I downloaded and reinstalled the latest drivers. much to my surprise, everything went back to normal! At least they did for a while >=-( Now the compass and scroll bars are back to gigantic.

I don't think there is anything in the world that pisses me off as much a Catia. Really... the government, bad drivers, mosquitoes... I hate catia more than all of them.

it's not CATIA's fault, it can only be a GPU problem

Is there a solution to this problem? I have two workstations with the same problem and we tried the suggestions listed here but none of them worked.

Thank you.

Hi Catia Users Distortion of Tree, Compass, Square / Cube Circles / elipses 1) open application XP > Desktop > my Computer > Local Disk (C > Programms > Dassault Systems > B14 > intel_a > code > bin > CATIAENV.exe 2) Dilogbox appears answer "yes" 3) Dilogbox appears answer "OK" 4) right click on the lower subwindow chose "New Variable" 5) Catia v5 default screen ratio is 1.25 : 1 the two Numbers 800 and 500 discribe the screen ratio and the size of the Tree an the Compass 800 : 500 = 1.6 : 1 gives a small size Tree and Compass 500 : 250 = 1.6 : 1 gives a big size Tree and Compass Conclusion: as biger 800 : 500 is, as smaller Tree and Compass will be. 6) right click on the lower subwindow chose "New Variable" 7) fill in following: Name: CATWidthMMOfScreen Value: 500 8) fill in following: Name: CATHeightMMOfScreen Value: 250 9) Close the Enviroment Editor, restart Catia the Problem should be solved

This was really hard to understand but it worked great once I figured out what you were driving at.  #8 should be in the place of #5 because after creating a new variable I couldn't figure out what the name was supposed to be until I read the whole thing.  The formatting being screwed up didn't help.

1) open application XP > Desktop > my Computer > Local Disk (C > Programs > Dassault Systems > B14 > intel_a > code > bin > CATIAENV.exe.

OR from start menu Catia>Environment Editor V5RXX ---> Run As Administrator

2) Dilogbox appears answer "yes" (This environment is used by CATENV.  Do you want to modify it?)

3) Dilogbox appears answer "OK" (WARNING: As Administrator you can create, modify and delete global variables)

4) right click on the lower subwindow chose "New Variable" (Will be greyed out unless ran as administrator)

     Name: CATWidthMMOfScreen Value: 500

     Name: CATHeightMMOfScreen Value: 250

The default Catia v5 screen ratio is 1.25 : 1.  The two Numbers 800 and 500 describe the screen ratio and the size of the Tree an the Compass.  800 : 500 = 1.6 : 1, this gives a small size Tree and Compass.  500 : 250 = 2 : 1, this gives a bigger Tree and Compass.

Conclusion: The lower the ratio, the smaller Tree and Compass will be.

5) Close the Environment Editor, restart Catia the Problem should be solved

Thanks for the help.  Hopefully this is useful for others.
