Question for the Drafting community - Is there a way in V5
to create vector graphics from Raster images? for example I
have a graphic from a PDF and want to be able to create a
vectorized version of that image. Is it possible without
tracing the image manually?

Try this:
Get onto the interwebs and download these: Ghostscript, GSview, and PStoEdit
Install them in that order.
Launch GSview.
Use "Edit | Convert to vector format" to create a DXF.
Drag the DXF into Catia.
It's not perfect; but, hey....what do you want for free....?
(i've tested this on Win64bit and Win7)
what are your quality ( tolerance ) requirements and what do you want to do with data afterwards ? There are solutions out there that do what you want, but the quality is not good enough to use the data downstream for i.e NC programming.

Actually I just need graphics for documentation but Raster is not
an acceptable format. I will try this and see what kind of
results I get. Thanks for the pointers

Have you had any luck?
We use it here and it works just fine for us. (WinXp and Win7)
But, I've had a few people try this (at other companies) and it did not work for them.
