why do Detail view callouts turn red?

why do Detail view callouts turn red?

We recently upgraded to V5R21.

Sometimes, after modifying 3D model and updating the associated drawing, the callouts for some Detail views turn red.  I'm guessing this is trying to tell me something, but I don't know what.

Doesn't happen to all the callouts.  The phantom circle and view callout both turn red.  I can easily change the color back to black, but often the callout will turn red when I update the drawing again.  I checked, and the 3D model is fine.

I see that often also.  I think it may be telling you that the position of the detail area is not fixed.

I have not tested this, but I think if you add a "coincidence" geometric constraint in the drawing, to fix the center of the detail area

circle to some point on the view, it may fix this.

I never bothered testing because the red detail area circle normally doesn't seem to hurt anything in the drawing...

Thanks Doug.

This always seems to happen to detail view callouts that I've modified, and I never have fixed or constrained the callout geometry before.  I just modified one of the callouts on a drawing I did last week and it updated OK.  I'll let you know if the problem continues.

This error occurs when one view is inherited from the other or due to the non-propagation of view / section plane modifications. The synchronize view definition command helps to remove inconsistencies that can occur in a drawing between two views.

Right-click the detail view and select Detail X object > Synchronize View Definition to synchronize the detail view with respect to the parent view. The view callout should no longer be red.
