Unable to change tool axis in MO when using 5-Axis machine built in Machine Builder

Unable to change tool axis in MO when using 5-Axis machine built in Machine Builder

Hello, I am finding that I can't alter the tool axis in MOs when I "assign a machine from file" and select a 5-Axis machine that I built in Machine Builder. If I select the generic "5-axis machine" I can alter the tool axis no problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi David,

Is it possible the machine limits prohibit the tool axis to want?

Also, what version. I can ask about defects.

Hi David,

This problem has been there for a long time including others. The only workaround is to remove the machine sim and set your toolaxis and then apply the machine sim again. Or you can use the vb script to set the toolaxis without removing the macine sim which, I believe, I have mentioned in the other thread "catia machine simulation vs vericut" here in this forum.

Thanks guys- I will not load sim for programming, just occasional replay.

I just ran into a similar issue. Mine was where tried cutting at B0 and B180.  I used profile contouring at 0,0,1 tool axis (B) picked all my geo and computed...all OK.

Then when I tried a new MO with a 0,0,-1 tool axis, at B180 I could NOT change the tool axis. I tried both from copy an existing mo, or just clicking on the profile contouring icon and starting from scratch.

Finally... I got it resolved by setting tools + Options + Machining+ Operation + uncheck   ---> .....when copy....duplicate  geometry links.

Does anyone have any Asprin?
