Storing CATIA Materials Specs in Neutral File Formats

Just started using V6 here. Trying to get our CAD users to start storing materials information in their V6 models in order to export data from 3DExperience and be able to transfer to CAE users to read successfully. CAE users are using all sorts of different softwares, so we need to be able to transfer this data and from what I'm hearing is that they cannot currently accept 3DXML, although they can accept PLMXML.

I'm 100% positive the materials created and the process to add them to the data is correct.

V6 does not give an option to switch to stp214 (unless it's an additional license?) to attempt this format.

Just wondering if anyone has had any success on material spec transfers on ANY neutral file format from CATIA to CAE users?

TIA!

I m in 3DX 2016X SP4 and I do see many option for STEP output as you can see on attached picture.

It is also true I have many role given to me as you can see on the second picture.

I will try to break it down if I can.

no sure if this would do anything but I unchecked all roles but Mechanical Designer and Plateform contributor and I still have all STEP format available. The STEP converter is part of the package for Mechanical designer:

We were able to get some software which will accept 3DXML but still no luck on storing material properties. Any advice for getting materials out during an export from V6?

I don't know 3dx, but if you have same automation capabilities as V5 (V5automation, CAA...) it must be pretty easy to make it on your own.

In V5, there are indeed APIs/methods to extract material and material library data (as well as import).

You can Google "catscript catmaterial"
