Dear all:
I just met such a situation.
I have a CATPart designed in original point.
However, when I insert it into a new prodcut without any position transfer, it shows not in original point.
I want to know what action will cause this problem?

Hi Siyu Yang,
I see that you have a reference part in the assembly that you
measure to.
Place fix that part first and make sure it's in Absolute Origin.
Then insert your new part... maybe try to create a new part and replicate the problem and share the assembly, looks like you you don't want to share the problem part.
/Michael
Thanks for reply.
I am sure I inserted each part in Absolute Origin.
I think the problem is caused by this unique part file.
I can not get the part out of the database.
I just want to know what action will cause this happen.
It's very difficult to help if we can't see or work with your
assembly.
I would create a fix constraint on both parts, Watch the
video.
Make sure all are in 0,0,0 and all 0deg.
If the part still positioned away from your absolute, open the part
and inspect.
Show the 3 main planes, are the geometry in the right position
according to these planes..?
Thanks god.
I deleted our production data and create a test surface in the same CATPart file.
So I attached the file.
Hope anyone can help me.
Test Case:
Create a new product
insert this test CATPart into the product
insert a new CATPart into the product
I can see the test CATPart is not in the original axis.
Hello siyu yang,
I think the hybrid design cause this problem.
Here's my step:
1.Open your file. (test-for-position)
2.Use your step for first try. (Create a new product, etc...)
Outcome: The test file is not in the original axis.
3.Save the test file into STP.
4.Open the STP file and save it to CATPart.
5.Use your step for second try.
Outcome: The test file is in the original axis.
You can watch the video as a reference.
I noticed that when I open your file, the PartBody icon color is yellow, so I'm guessing you might turn the hybrid design on.
Some of my clients have these kind of problems because of the hybrid design, usually I recommend my clients no to turn hybrid design on.
By the way, I'm using CATIA V5-6R2020 SP6 as test environment.
Hope this can help you.
Sorry i can't help more... we are not using the same CATIA release... I'm currently working on V5-6R2017 servicepack 4
Maybe you could make a video.. there is a screen recorder in powerpoint under "Insert"
Or if you could save the part in an older release..?
Thanks for feedback.
I tried to transfer the file to a low version.
However, the problem can not be found in the low version file.
So I can not provide the problem file in low version.
Thanks for reply.
I don't think the hybrid design mode or non-hybrid design will cause this position problem.
And I know how to solve the position problem.
I just want to know what operation will cause this position problem CATPart file, so I can tell my friends to avoid such kind of operation.
As i said, it's very difficult to help when we don't have access to the data. One thing is that we do not have the same Catia Release. Could share a video of the issue for us who don't have the right Release..?
It might be a catia error in the file, you could try to run the
CATDUAV5 to see if that solves the problem.
And if you create a FIX Constraint on both parts.. Does that still
show the wrong position.. Again.. i would like to see that live or
in pictures.. Else i'm afraid i can't help you..
I attached the wmv file to show what's the problem.
The problem can be solved by using CATDUAV5.
I am curious to know what operation will casue this problem.
CATDUAV5 check result pic.

Hi Siyu,
Thx for the video.. :-)
I see when you instantiate, you click on the left button..? Normally i click "No"( Button to the right in English version) to position the part at the origin of the assembly. If you click yes. you need to select your origin. It might be different in your local language.
Second.. after you instantiate.. please Fix both components.. if
you double click the Fix constraint and the "More" you can see the
position... if it's not 0, then try edit the to 0.
But base on your reply that the CATUA V5 fixed the problem tells me
that it's a system "Bug"/Unknow issue. Not sure it's something you
can locate or do anything about.
Thx for pursuit this strange issue.
It's no matter I click left button or right button. I mean for this case, it comes same result.
I think the CATPart file is something wrong. (As the CATDUAV5 gives me same answer)
I still want to know what will cause this so that I can tell the others what should not be done.
If the CATDUA fixes the problem, then you might never find the
cause to the problem. CATIA sometimes have it's own life and cause
to this can be internal and not due to something the user
does.
But take notes, be aware if this happens again with other
components.. i doubt it.. but one never know.. :-)

Yes, I agree with you.
Let me see if there is any new issues.
