3DExperience: Preparing mock-up for Simulation

Hello All,

I work doing manufacturing process simulations and ergonomics in CATIA/DELMIA V5. The 3D models used are hosted in a Database so what I do is to locally save the model to be simulated and add my movements, manikins, tools and whatever I need to represent the manufacturing operations.

Lately, the new products to be simulated are designed in 3DExperience so the normal evolution should be doing the simulations collaboratively within 3DExperience platform. The products designed are "Read-only access" so I cannot modify them. Instead of creating my copy of the complete product, is there any faster way within 3DExperience of creating some kind of twin for moving/hidding some part of the product, inserting manikins, tools, etc. and saving it for later modifications?

For the moment, the faster way I found is exporting the model to CATIAV5 and simulating in DELMIAV5.

Regards.

your answer is Duplicate Advance command

Thank you Rami. I'm still new at 3DX and didn't know that command. I'm trying to use it and since the models are really huge it is taking "some time" to compute de duplication. After an hour, 3DExperience is still freeze.

In any case, that seems to me an option closer to create a complete new copy of the model. I was thinking of a solution closer to the tools on the module called "Digital Review", where you create new Review/slides which store displacements of the components, parts hidden and viewpoints. And the important part, without modifying the original model. The problem is that this way is not compatible with using ergonomics.

Hi Antonio

just mention that with the Duplicate Advance command you can decide which object will be Duplicate, which will be Reused and which will be Excluded.

Hi Rami,

I attached a screenshot of the menu shown when I press the advanced duplicate command. I see other people manage a different menu where you can choose different options for each physical product, drawing, etc. Don't know why this menu is more simple. I ran the command from the Collaborative LifeCycle Management app, does it make sense to you? Edit: I do it once I explore the model I want to duplicate, because it has a filter applied.

As you can see, I'm about to create 16GB of data in the DataBase, for an ergonomic analysis of manufacturing operations. The complete model will change next month (or week) and maybe I need to do it all over again. It is doable, but I don't think it is the proper way to do it.

Thank you for your help!

while this dialog is open when you click on any object in the tree you get a pop-up icons with the options i mention above.
