Product to part

Product to part
I want to make all parts of an assembly into a single V5 part for the purpose of easy manipulation.

Is there any way to do this?

gopalakrishnan,

Yes, there is a way to convert an assembly into a part. The easiest way (and the only way I am going to tell you for right now) is to add the environment variable IRD_PRODUCTTOPART = 1. After you do this, you will have a new option under your Tools menu in the Assembly workbench: Convert Catproduct to Catpart. I think you need to be at Catia v5r12 or higher, but someone else on the forum can verify that for you.

This method I outlined is very quick and easy so I won't detail the workaround.

Hi gopalakrishnan,

The Env Variable which is mentioned works from R10.
It becomes default properties in R13.

In R13 it is possible to do it without any environment variable: in Assembly Design, go to Tools - Generate CatPart from Catproduct.

I entered your environment variable and I see the option under TOOLS. But when I select it, it prompts for new part number, I enter something and cannot select OK.

Any ideas?

Andy,

Do you have yourself setup to manually enter your part numbers? You can find out by going to Tools > Options > Infrastructure > Product Structure > Product Structure tab. If you do, uncheck the Manual input checkbox. I have never been prompted for a part number and this is my only guess as to your problem.

Andy! You have to select assembly from top of specification tree and the Ok button is active.

Hi!
in R16 there is the special module "product data filtering". Command is "Assembly to part".
