Nathan Shipley, Witchita State University

Nathan Shipley is the Assistant Director of NIAR’s CAD/CAM Laboratory where he is responsible for department operations outside of the greater Wichita region, including training, consulting and contract project work.  He has developed nationally recognized CATIA training manuals and teaches courses at Wichita State University and various companies within the aerospace industry.  He has worked at NIAR since 2002, previously as the CAD/CAM Lab Manager and as a Research Associate in the CAD/CAM Laboratory.

Nathan has a Master of Business Administration and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from WSU.  His software expertise includes CATIA V5, CATIA V6, ENOVIA DMU and ENOVIA VPLM.  His primary focus is Composites.

Edward Alexander Ladzinski

Edward Ladzinski began his career as a Manufacturing Engineer, NC Programmer and Tool Designer with Burroughs Corp. (now Unisys Corp.). In 1978, he joined IBM in the Kingston, NY laboratory as a Research & Development Engineer. During his 32-year career with IBM, Mr. Ladzinski worked in many different positions within engineering including research, product design and development and analysis and simulation. Immediately upon retirement Mr. Ladzinski joined Dassault Systemes. While at Dassault Systemes he served as the Systems Engineering leader for the Americas. In 2014, he left Dassault Systemes and formed his own company dedicated solely to systems engineering. Today, Mr. Ladzinski is the CEO and Co-Founder of SMS_ThinkTank™.

Mr. Ladzinski also serves on the NAFEMS Americas Steering Committee and is co-founder of the Stochastics Working Group and Simulation Data Management working group. Also, he co-founded the joint INCOSE/NAFEMS Systems Modeling and Simulation working group which has over 200 members representing many OEMs and suppliers in automotive and aerospace. He is the chairman of the Analysis & Simulation and Systems Engineering tracks at COE and was awarded the COE Fellow distinction in 2013. In 2016 he was elected into the COE Board of Directors. He was also the winner of the best conference papers in 2012 and 2016 with presentations on Systems Engineering and Collaboration. He is an engineering graduate of RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) and performed his graduate work in Engineering and Business at RIT and UNCC (University of North Carolina Charlotte), respectively.


Jim Escoe, Procter & Gamble 

James Escoe, of Cincinnati Ohio, is the PLM Strategy Leader for Procter & Gamble’s Product Development globally.  He also leads global High Performance Computing (HPC), Modeling & Simulation IT Systems, and CAD Systems for Package Development and areas of Product Development.  Jim has been a PLM leader in P&G for the last 16 years.  Jim’s initiatives include PLM capability to deliver drawing control to P&G plants, BOM integrations to SAP, and 3D Design for Packaging and Product Development.  Jim currently leads the strategy for all P&G initiatives involving ENOVIA/CATIA/SIMULIA.  Earlier in Jim’s P&G career he architected and delivered P&G’s global HPC infrastructure and architected P&G’s first deployments of Teamcenter.  More recently Jim led the effort to replatform all P&G’s packaging design and development to the CATIA/ENOVIA/SIMULIA V6 architecture

Prior to P&G, Jim was the program manager for SDRC’s CAE business unit and a senior product development manager of the Assembly Modeling module of I-DEAS CAD.  He led I-DEAS CAD development for Assembly Modeling integration to Metaphase and the Team Data Manager (precursors to Teamcenter), Configuration Management, Part-to-Part feature integration, and the consolidated geometric and positional constraint network that was first among the CAD companies globally.  The 3D Variational Geometry Initiative Jim jointly led won Design News “New Product of the Year” in 1996.

Jim has been married for 26 years, has two daughters and enjoys boating, golfing, travel, attending college football games and cooking Italian food.
