6118: PRODUCT (PD) Additive at Scale - Challenges/Opportunities to drive a digital transformation

Additive Manufacturing is emerging from the shadows of rapid prototyping. Most of rapid prototyping is still done in a lab environment and the needs are due to the diversity of machines, materials and processes that are required to deliver on a variety of use cases. As additive moves to more functional, end use parts there is a need to scale additive and take it out of the lab and make it available closer to the end users.
This session shares insights on how to plan this move from the lab into the design office, tool room, production floor and field operations. It will also discuss the changing roles of engineers as they take responsibility of not just designing but also testing and producing the part – driving a digital convergence of design, engineering, manufacturing and supply chain with additive.
